project brief
This project involved the planned decommissioning, relocation, and recommissioning of specialist machining equipment for Scharmann Solon as part of a wider site relocation programme. The scope of works covered electrical isolation and dismantling of machinery, safe transport to a new facility, and the precision reinstallation and commissioning of the equipment at its new location. A controlled, methodical approach was essential to protect high-value assets and ensure the machinery returned to full operational status without unnecessary downtime.

The challenge
Relocating specialist machining equipment presents a complex set of challenges, particularly when dealing with heavy machinery, high-load electrical systems, and tight operational timeframes. Each machine needed to be electrically decommissioned and stripped down methodically, with all cabling, components, and connections clearly match-marked to guarantee accurate reassembly. Any In addition to the decommissioning works, the physical relocation of the machinery required careful planning and coordination. This included safely loading and transporting high-value equipment, managing access constraints at both sites, and ensuring the new location was fully prepared to receive and support the machinery. Once installed, the machines had to be levelled with precision and commissioned to exact tolerances to ensure reliability, accuracy, and long-term operational efficiency.
project goals
The primary goal of the project was to deliver a seamless end-to-end machinery relocation, ensuring safety, accuracy, and efficiency at every stage. From initial electrical decommissioning through to final commissioning, the focus was on minimising risk, reducing downtime, and returning the machinery to full operational status as quickly as possible at the new site.
the result
The project was completed successfully, with all machinery safely decommissioned, relocated, and recommissioned to specification. Accurate match-marking and methodical reinstallation ensured all electrical and mechanical systems were reconnected correctly, allowing commissioning to be carried out efficiently and without issue. Precision levelling restored machine accuracy, enabling production to resume with confidence. The client was left with a fully operational setup at the new site, delivered with minimal disruption and to a high standard of safety and workmanship.
